JUNO Self Defense

Frequently Asked Questions.

Can I take a trial lesson?

Our JUNO Girls, Basics, Intermediate and Advanced programs are progressive 6-week courses so it’s not possible to sign up for a trial lesson. If you want to try self-defense before committing to the full course you can register online for one of our JUNO Seminars or our JUNO Workshops or you can book one Personal Training session by emailing us at hello@juno-selfdefense.com

Who can join the 6 week JUNO program?

Every target group has their own challenges in life. Our regular JUNO Self Defense program the; JUNO Basics, JUNO Intermediate and JUNO Advanced courses, are specifically designed for women only.

For the LGBTIQA+ community the JUNO Foundation and Gemeente Utrecht is offering the JUNO Rainbow program which dives into the specific situations and experiences we learned and received from the LGBTIQA+ community, you can find more information about the JUNO Rainbow program here.

If you are wondering what to wear or bring to your first workout, check out this link.

What should I do if I cannot attend a lesson?

Each JUNO course progresses and builds over 6-weeks, culminating in week 6 with the exam, so it’s very important to join for every lesson. We strongly recommend attending all lessons! However, if something comes up that is more important than your JUNO Self Defense class (we can’t image ;-) send us an email to hello@juno-selfdefense.com with as much advanced notice as possible so we can so we can inform your JUNO Trainer and plan your makeup lesson (if available)/personal training.

How do I schedule a makeup class when I missed a lesson?

There are a few possible options if you have to miss a lesson in the 6-week course (see below). In order to know which option(s) are available to you, please send an email to hello@juno-selfdefense.com with as much advanced notice as possible.

  1. If we are teaching the same course in conjunction with your course but on a different day, you might be able to join the other group to make up your missed class if there is a spot available.

  2. You may be able to make-up the missed course in a JUNO Personal Training session. The cost for a 1:1 one-hour self-defense personal training session starts at 75 EUR. Whenever possible it is best to do this in the same week of the course you missed/before the next class takes place.

  3. If the two options above do not work, you can make up what you missed in week 5 when we do a full review of all course defenses/techniques in preparation for the exam in week 6.

I cannot attend the exam in week 6, what are my options?

We strongly encourage all participants to join the regularly scheduled group exam in week 6 of the course. If this is not possible, there are a few potential options to make this up. In order to know which option(s) are available to you, please send an email to hello@juno-selfdefense.com with as much advanced notice as possible. Please note that you must complete the course exam before moving on to the next level course.

  1. If we are teaching the same course in conjunction with your course but on a different day, you might be able to join the other group for the exam.

  2. You can schedule a JUNO Personal Training exam make-up session. The cost for this starts at 100 EUR. This must be done within 3 weeks of the course end date.

  3. You can register to take the full course again at a 25% discount. Repeating the course is a great way to deepen and refine your knowledge and skills.

I am no longer able to attend the course I registered for. What are my options?

All deposits and payments for JUNO courses and trainings are non-refundable. They can be credited to your JUNO account if email notice is given at least 7 days prior to the event start date due to unforeseen circumstances (exceptions may be made for certain medical/personal circumstances at JUNO’s discretion: i.e. doctor or psychologist advisement; however, no refund is possible for any reason after 6 months from the date of purchase). In some cases:

If the course has not yet started:  We can check if someone on the waiting list can take over your spot. If so, we will transfer your registration to the next course taking place. If not, we can put you on the waitlist for the next course. You will be notified via email within two weeks of the next course start date if space is available for you to join. There is a 25 EUR administrative fee for this option.

If the course has already started: You can register to take the full course again at a 25% discount.
