JUNO Self Defense

Hi, I’m Nadia.

1. What are your top 3 favorite activities?
Sport and exercise, Travelling, Reading

2. How would you describe yourself?
Passionate chaos with a mission:)

3. Why did you become a JUNO Trainer?
After 20 years of Martial Arts and a 2nd dan in Taekwondo, I found myself no longer taking pleasure in the perfectionism required for the 3rd dan Exam. In addition, I noticed that the competition element also became less interesting, after winning (and losing of course) many matches. I went back to the original reason I took up martial arts: to gain confidence and defend myself! I participated in the JUNO Basics and a world opened up for me. Practical techniques that can be applied by anyone and a kick-ass mindset that would REALLY help me in emergency situations! I wish that for everyone!

4. What are you doing besides JUNO?
I am currently studying to become a Psychomotor Therapist and teach punching bag and kickboxing classes.

5. What other sports do you do to keep fit?
Besides martial arts, I do all kinds of team sports at school and I can sometimes be found in the bouldering hall.

6. What's your favorite food?
Surinamese Roti and Asian cuisine.

7. What did you want to become as a child?
Ninja and Prime Minister.

8. What is your biggest dream?
Empower as many people as possible.

9. What have you always wanted to say?
"I will face my fear, I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain — Frank Herbert, Dune

In other words: Face your fears and become invincible.
